Geninne Zlatkis is an illustrator (etsy.com/shop/Geninne) and blogger (geninne.com). She uses a wide variety of techniques (painting, collage, writing, stamping, and more) in her whimsical work. Her illustrated prints and licensed designs have been available through Urban Outfitters, and her designs are featured on an organic cotton fabric line with Cloud 9 Fabrics and a pocket planner from Galison. Geninne's hand-carved stamped-cards project was included in Craft Hope (Lark Fall 2010). She lives outside of Mexico City in Querataro, Mexico.

I wanted to love this book, but frankly, it was a big disappointment. The instructions for carving stamps are skimpy; I learned more on the topic from reading blogs and magazines. The project instructions are practically word-for-word the same for every project, so they could have saved a lot of space by just printing them once.
Making an Impression is a beautiful book and is totally useful as well. The photos are amazing, giving you a glimpse into Geninne's gorgeous home and studio. The text is very easy to read, not overly technical, but still highly detailed. The book opens flat due to the binding which makes it easier to put on your worktable while you are carving. After a techniques section there are lots of projects showing you ways to use the stamps you carve. The back of the book has templates to trace if you'd like to carve stamps using Geninne's motifs, or you can carve stamps of your own design.I carved my first stamp last night, using the instructions in this book, and now I'm totally addicted. This is a new craft for me and I'm in love thanks to Geninne's beautiful book!
I just received the book, and am already thrilled with it. I am totally familiar with Gennine's artwork, but her stamping art is new to me.For anyone who has been thinking about trying stamp carving ,go for it! I have carved some and enjoyed it in the past but now I am certainly going to do more. A really beautiful book, with tons of unique ideas. find her blog on line , and discover a delightful artist who is willing to share her talent and techniques. P.S. the carving process is not hard to do.
I LOVE this book and am enamored with making my own rubber stamps for use on paper, fabric and ceramic ware! Geninne has crafted a great book that offers something for both beginners and more advanced rubber stamp enthusiasts by offering lists of supplies, project ideas and step by step instructions, gorgeous photos and even templates for some of her stamps for those that need just a little extra inspiration. If you don't follow her already, check out her instagram feed and her website for more beautiful images and explanations of her art work.
I love the idea of making my own rubber stamps. I couldn't wait secure this book. And the author was everything I expected.Her stamps are truly like what is made on the cover. She shows how to trace a picture and burnish it to the white rubber eraser block. Then get out your linoleum cutters and or wood-carving hand tools.For inspiration there is a picture of her collection she made herself. Then she continues to use her images on every surface you can imagine. I so glad for her ideas. Thank you Geninne D. Zlatkis. I am going to make my own!!!
This is a beautiful and inspiring book! I'm big into scrapbooking and with all of the copyright policies on rubber stamps, I thought it might be good for me to try my skills with making my own stamps. This book is very easy to use and the techniques are shown with very clear directions and photos to walk you through each step. Geninne's designs are so simple, but elegant and inspire me to want to create! The only thing that would have been helpful is a list of suppliers that carry the rubber carving blocks, but I looked around at my local art stores and was able to find them! I did find some nice white erasers to use, which I was able to cut my designs into easily. However, be careful when cleaning the erasers, if you rub too hard, the plastic starts to rub off (after all, they are an eraser!). I am so glad I purchased this book and it's a great addition to my arts and crafts collection, well worth the money!
I bought this for my 11 year old granddaughter. She loves, loves, loves making her own stamps now. Geninne Zlatkis's book makes it all super easy and fun to do with tons of great ideas on how to use your stamps.. Great book!
This book is very pretty- it also has nice instruction and some beautiful projects, but we didn't feel intimidated by them. We had to do some searching for the carving blocks (some different brand names than mentioned) but that was easy- a quick Amazon search brought up several types.
